Google Patents Voice Search Technology

What is Google going to come out with next? Well, many are starting to believe that it is going to be voice searching capabilities. People are thinking this because Google recently filed Patent #7,027,987 to protect their idea of a “voice interface for a search engine”. So how is it going to work? If you look at the Patent then the Abstract gives you a slight idea of what to expect:

A system provides search results from a voice search query. The system receives a voice search query from a user, derives one or more recognition hypotheses, each being associated with a weight, from the voice search query, and constructs a weighted boolean query using the recognition hypotheses. The system then provides the weighted boolean query to a search system and provides the results of the search system to a user.

At any rate, Google never stops impressing people and this could surely make them a unique search engine. I’m still trying to figure out how many servers it would take to be able to analyze all the search requests. After all, it will have to analyze every vocal input and essentially turn it into text. Interesting, very interesting.
