Alexa is one of the most prestigious ranking systems that is known on the web. For quite some time the top 3 sites were Yahoo, MSN, and Google (in that order). However, just today I noticed that Google has overtaken MSN and received a rank of 2! Google also has other sites near the top of the list such as Google.co.uk, Google.co.jp and Blogger.com but the stats are listed on a per domain basis otherwise Google would probably have the number one spot.
The list is actually very interesting to look at. You will find other top sites such as Amazon.com and MySpace holding steady in the top 10. The link below will take you to Alexa’s Top 500 Sites where you can view details about the site’s traffic as well as read reviews.

I keep getting Spybot removing tracking cookies marked Alexa. Is this a nefarious attempt to sully the name of what you say is a prestigious ranking system, or are they a little more underhand than they seem?
I have never heard of Alexa being anything to worry about.

I think Google has been on No. 2 for quite a while now according to Alexa.
Nope, if you look at the recent movers at Alexa it shows that MSN just dropped from spot number 2.
