It looks like Google is stepping up to the plate again and this time it’s because they released Picasa for Linux. Picasa is Google’s photo editing tool that seems to be slowly gaining popularity. It is easy to use and lets you perform almost everything the average user would want to do to a photo. It is by no means a Photoshop replacement, but I use it because it starts a lot quicker than Photoshop and allows me to do some quick editing.
I wonder if this means that Google is making a step towards releasing other software for Linux? If they do they could end up attracting a large and powerful fan base (in addition to the fans that they already have).

The Linux market is the home of the fanboy or the discerning PC user, and that’s exactly the kind of crowd Google need to stand with them. Let’s hope they do release more for Linux systems.
With the amount of praise they have received for putting Picasa on Linux I think they would be dumb not to bring more software over to the open-source side.
