Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3 To Be Released Soon?

While browsing the Mozilla FTP I noticed that Firefox 2.0 has now been branded as Alpha 3. The expected release date for Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3 was today so keep your eyes open and we might see a release before the weekend.

The Alpha 3 build will be sporting some new features since the previous release of Alpha 2 a few weeks ago. There are two really notable features: Safe Browsing and NSIS Installer. I had taken a screenshot of Safe Browsing in Firefox a few days ago when they had put the feature in a nightly build. Screenshots of the NSIS Installer (which can be found on the Mozilla FTP below) can be found here for those people interested.

I wonder if Firefox will claim to have invented the safe browsing feature? It looks like they are copying IE7 and SiteAdvisor. I am sure more Myths are to come…

Firefox’s anti-phishing filter is an integrated version of the extension that Google created for firefox a long time ago. So no, this isn’t copying IE7 - IE7 isn’t even out yet.

On a sidenote, it seems the “MT” worm has reached your site Ryan, you might want to ban the ips before it takes over your system.

Not sure where the list of his ips went… I’ll report back later if I find it.

As for MT which I imagine is short for Mastertech (also as Andrew K) get lost with your misinformation trolling crap as I have banned you myself a few times at one forum.

Here is a list to help show much of a trolling pest this guy is. http://www.webdevout.net/forum.....c.php?t=38

    James,

I was linking to the Tinderbox because that was the only file at the time that had been rebranded to Firefox 2.0 Alpha 3. Now that it has been released it can be found in the nightly builds as well, but that wasn’t the case at the time.

If there was somewhere else I should have been looking then let me know.

You just need to copy your profile folder from 2.0a1 to 2.0a3. This will keep all of your settings.

The structure of the folders have changed in 2.0a3 so you will find the profile folder under the “Data” directory. Just replace that profile folder with the one in the root directory of 2.0a1 and you are all set.
