Firefox Replaces Extensions Manager With Add-ons Manager

While using the latest Firefox Nightly build I noticed that they no longer have the Extensions Manager, it is now the Add-ons Manager. It is not that much different except that the Themes is now built into the Add-ons Manager instead of having separate managers for both themes and extensions.

More SlashDot Redesigns — This Round Is Much Better

There are some more redesigns posted for SlashDot and these are much better than the previous designs. There are a couple that really stand out to me and, in my opinion, would be great to see on SlashDot.

OpenOffice.org Wants You To “Get Legal”

OpenOffice.org is pushing for a new reason to make the switch from Microsoft Office...so that you can "Get Legal"! The article talks about a lot of statistics that I found to be very interesting:According to Microsoft 35% of the software in the world is thought to be counterfeit or otherwise illegal.

Firefox 1.5.0.3 Released With The Security Patch

Firefox 1.5.0.3 is now available and for those people running Firefox 1.5.x you should receive the update automatically. I figured this would be released soon with the releases notes being posted yesterday. This is an important update because it fixes a security issue that was found early last week. The security issue was a denial of service vulnerability.

Windows Desktop Search 3.0 Beta Download

Microsoft has begun testing the next release of Windows Desktop Search. Unfortunately this version does not include an end-user UI, but the next release is expected to have it. This release is for the Engine Preview ONLY. It allows applications like Outlook 2007 and OneNote 2007 to be indexed so that the content within those applications can be quickly searched.

A Different Kind Of Pocket PC

This is not your typical handheld Pocket PC because it does not have a touch screen that you can use for input. However, this is truly a Pocket PC because it is a desktop equivalent computer that is only about 2 cubic inches in size! More pictures can be found at the source but here are the details on this amazing piece of work: The Space Cube is the world's smallest personal computer.

Mozilla Updates Their Pocket PC Browser Called Minimo

Many Pocket PC users only use Internet Explorer because they do not realize that there are other alternatives. Mozilla has an alternative called Minimo and they have finally updated it. I like Minimo because the overall design and usability is very nice and really seems to fit my needs.

Firefox 1.5.0.3 To Be Released Very Soon?

I just noticed that Mozilla has finally put up a release notes page for Firefox 1.5.0.3. However, this does not mean that it is released but it is often an indication that it will be very soon. They don't have any changes or anything announced on the page and appears that they have only copied the template from 1.5.0.2 right now.

Azureus Users: The Most Popular Plug-ins

Zeropaid has put together a great list of extensions to use for Azureus (one of the most popular BitTorrent clients). There are many BitTorrent clients that are available to be downloaded but these plug-ins are what distinguish Azureus from the rest. Some of the ones that I like on their list are the Progress Bar, Chat, and Safe Peer.

Yahoo Tech Launched In Hopes To Compete With CNet

It appears that Yahoo Tech has been launched and they are trying to compete with CNet. They offer reviews of products, how-to guides, and have a staff on hand in hopes to answer your questions. After browsing through the site initially I didn't see anything that really impressed me. I very quickly got annoyed with the flash animations which seemed to add too much movement to the screen.

Google Testing Another Search Results Page

About two weeks ago a new search results page was uncovered that Google had been testing. Now, it is time to reveal another one. This search results screen doesn't show nearly as much information about a given site but it could greatly help your traffic to your site if you are the number one search result.
