Windows has been the primary Operating System on Dell servers for quite some time, but it looks like Linux is catching up. Dell stated that 25% of their servers in enterprises run Red Hat Linux.
Those are actually impressive numbers and they say that the number of Linux servers will continue to grow. Right now the primary purchasers of Linux servers are those making the transition from Linux because changing from Unix to Windows would be quite a big step.
An equally impressive statistic is that Dell can handle 90 percent of service calls regarding Red Hat without having to contact Red Hat Support to solve the issue. Heck, I don’t even think Dell can handle 90 percent of Windows issues

I doubt even Microsoft can handle 90% of Windows issues. The question ‘why the f**k does my PC have to start with about 6 user accounts’ always leave’s them standing.
Yep, the first thing I do when I wipe my computer clean is delete all of the other user accounts.

I’m not a big Linux fan but the more competition for Windows the better. Increased competition will mean better products from Microsoft.
I think that by the next milestone release of Windows by Microsoft there will have been some huge ground covered in Linux. I wish that they would start to focus more on ease-of-usability, but I guess Ubuntu is doing that. There just needs to be some unified way that programs install themselves much like the Windows Installer. Right now they have RPM’s that are easy to install along with built-in software that comes with most Linux operating systems to automatically install stuff, but that doesn’t help much for things not contained in their listing.
