Is Google Preparing For VoIP?

Is Google Preparing For VoIP?

Garett Rogers from Googling Google noticed that there were some new additions to Google’s robots.txt file. The new addition references some sort of calling feature that looks like it will have caller ID. If you try and visit what the robots.txt is blocking then an XML file is displayed. A picture of the XML file is above.

There isn’t much information there but by looking at the code you can see a type of caller ID feature. This could indicate that Google Talk will be getting VoIP in a future release. Maybe Google is working on this to compete with Microsoft who will be releasing a VoIP feature in the soon-to-be-released Windows Live Messenger.

I’ve said it before, but all I want is group conversations and file transfer. And maybe emoticons, but you should be able to turn them off.

Yeah, all I want to see is file transfer capabilities.
