If you have downloaded Windows Vista Beta 2 but you haven’t activated it then you need to make sure that you do. By activating Vista you will be able to receive Vista RC1 (Release Candidate 1) when it is released later this summer (hopefully).
I think that some people download Vista Beta 2 and then either never install it or never activate it. If that is the case then you won’t be receiving RC1 for free when it is released.

Pieter De Decker: No, free as in you are able to download it and burn it yourself. If you want to order the DVD from Microsoft it’s $6.00. Unfortunately Microsoft quotes at least 4 weeks shipping if you want the hard copy.
If i downloaded and activated beta 2, and then uninstalled it and installed another version of vista, do i still get RC1?
Everyone will have the chance to get Vista RC1 because Microsoft has chosen to open it back up to the public when it gets released on September 7.
