The OLPC Laptops Will Come Loaded With Wikipedia ArticlesIt looks like Wikipedia will have some select articles made to be viewed offline. Anyone who receives a laptop from the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) project will be able to bask in the knowledge that Wikipedia contains, well, maybe not all of Wikipedia.

Some Wikipedia articles are going to be made for offline viewing because the whole point of the project is to educate children around the World, even those without Internet access. What better way to do that then to share information gathered from a free encyclopedia that is constantly being updated and edited by millions of people? I am sure they will have to carefully sift through the chosen articles to make sure the content is accurate but the end result will be nothing short of amazing for the children who will learn from the content.

Its seems rather worrisome that we all are fascinated by the user contributed content in Wikipedia. Yet, we do not question the integrity or accuracy of the content. Really, there is a certain amount of factual information there. However, can it be considered an academic resource.

Please see below an article that deals with this issue on my website. Just thought that it would be relevant.

Well, wikipedia is definitely revolutionizing the way we access information online. However, can we honestly say that the content provided by Wikipedia maintains accuracy and integrity. Really, there are many people from accross the world that have access to edit and change content online. In light of that, is there a way of differentiating fact from fiction. In essence, is wikipedia a trustable source.
