Hurry! Official Windows Vista 5536 Download - First 100,000 People!
Microsoft is currently letting people download Windows Vista 5536 Pre-RC1 but they have limited the number of downloads to 100,000! That sounds like a lot but it really isn’t if you think about how many people will be downloading it.
You can go to this page in order to download Vista 5536 or you can just download the ISO directly with this link. The download is only available for 32-bit machines and I doubt they have any intentions of releasing a 64-bit version.
Also, you will have to use your Windows Vista Beta 2 product key because they will not provide a new one for you. Hopefully you still have it laying around someone. *scurries to go look*
Why are they doing this? They want to make sure RC1 is as rock-solid as possible. We all know that it isn’t a final release but it should be stable enough to use everyday. This is their reasoning:
Most importantly, if there is a crash, hang, or error – please make sure that you send the information back to us using the built-in Windows Error Reporting technology (a dialog box will display automatically). Sending this information is essential to helping us improve the overall quality of Windows Vista – and collecting this information is the primary purpose of distributing this pre-RC1 release.
Thank you Microsoft for curing those of us who are too impatient to wait!

No matter how hard they try there is still going to be bugs with it.
Of course there will be bugs, but I hear even with the issues, this is their best OS ever.
I would get it and try it, but I do not have a RC2 key.
I have a key, but I can’t even get the download. Whether using IE or FF I get some download manager thing which downloads a 967B corrupt ISO file. Now I know Microsoft are optimizing, but I am having serious doubts that this file is Vista.
Anyway, I’ve found the iso on TorrentSpy, so it’s downloading now. Can anyone give me a hash of the ISO downloaded from M$ so I can check this thing is the real deal?
There will always be bugs…even after it is released. The main question is how serious are the bugs?
I assume you mean that you don’t have a Beta 2 key? If that’s the case then you can just wait until RC1 is released and they will issue new keys to everyone. Even those people who didn’t download Beta 2.

Not that it was that urgent - despite the latest Azureus giving me speeds 4x faster than crappy Bit Tornado used to it’s still peaked at 20KB/s, so obviously not that popular a torrent.
Has any one had the problem of downloading the file and then having it disappear while still eating up as much space as it would as if it were still on the drive?
