The good thing about a dead link is that the page won't take long to load, and with a M$ Intellimouse Optical I've got back and forward buttons on my mouse that can easily reverse clicking a dead link. So I use this userscript to preview search results without leaving the page. <a href="http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/3784" rel="nofollow">Google Link Preview</a> And since I also use Google Notebook I save the link to a notebook using the 'Note this' link and go through them later when I'm done searching.
