Google Starts Mac Blog - New Google Logo?

Apparently Google is done excluding Macs with all of their new technology.  For a while now, it seemed products/services were fairly limited for all the Mac users until today when Google announced that they’re starting a new Google Mac Blog. The blog is  specifically for those wanting the inside scoop about Macs at Google.

I checked out the Google blog and the first topic was about how they’re serious about their mission statement which says that “Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”  They’re trying to focus in on that “universally” part and so they’ve created a Mac Engineering team. They’ve got a few big projects already available for mac like dashboard widgets, the ability to upload photos from your Mac to Picasa, and the Google Notifier as well as full support for Google video. You can get the entire scoop at www.google.com/mac. If they intend to be universal, it’s a good thing they’re putting more attention on the Mac world.

As a side note, people have been mentioning for a while now that the Google logo is due for a makeover.  If you take a look at the new Google Mac Blog, you’ll notice a logo that is noticeably different than the typical logo we’re all accustomed to. It’s got some gloss and shine going on.  Perhaps the Mac Blog logo is a glimpse at what we might expect for the next Google logo?

    I just assumed it was a nod to the aqua/shiny styles that Apple is known for; it seems a bit cliché to use as a full-blown global logo. I’m probably right too. 8O
