The search box in Firefox (located in the upper right corner) can be very useful if you put it to good use. To add some search engines you could go to this site that Mozilla has put together or there is an even easier way now.
The Add To Search Bar extension lets you right-click on any search box and it will give you an option to add that site’s search field to the search box. The quick 3-step process of adding a search field can be seen in the screenshot that I took above and you’ll notice that you can customize the icon that is associated with a search.
Before this came extension came around I was able to find most of the search engines that I wanted to add by using this site. I love what a simple thing this extension does yet it is so incredibly useful. This is definitely something that should be built into Firefox.
Thanks for the tip Chris!

Another cool thing you can do
Go to google.com and right click in the search
Then click Add a keyword for this search.
Make it something like “g”
then in the address bar just type “g” then what you want to search and it’ll do it for you
Did you notice that Fx2.0 recognizes when sites have search engines that can be added?
To show this go to http://tech.yahoo.com/. You’ll notice the search box will show a turquoise border around your selected search engine’s icon. If you click the icon, you can instantly add the site’s search engine. No extension required.
I can’t guarantee that it’ll work for every site, yet I like the well implemented feature.
On a side note, did anyone notice that when Fx2 was in beta and the feed subscription feature was made, they always said the subscription site list was not finished. Well Fx2 has been released and it’s still the same sites!?
Not that I really mind (I just use My Y! / Y! mail beta) I’m just curious what happened there
I’ll have to try that out, that was one feature I really like about Opera.
I was wondering why that was happening
Now I know
I actually wrote a post a few weeks back about the Quick Search feature in Firefox and Opera. That is something I love very much.
I never even noticed that happening! Pretty cool though!
Opera already had it old news old tech brign something new FF,thats all u got to show for u’r 10% share, shame and on FF fanboys too.
For me in FX2 a blinking arrow shows up in the search box on the tool menu. When you click it, it asks if you want to add the search capability from the page you are on to your search engines.
And according to this link

‘you would are afraid to be known’ (Anonymous) the market share for also ran Opera is below not only I.E. & Firefox but Safari & EVEN Netscape. Opera is not a bad browser but obviously more prefer Firefox.
