Vista & Office 2007 Business Launch November 30

November 2nd, 2006
5 Comments Written by Ryan

Vista Packaging Microsoft has finally come forward and announced that they will be shipping Windows Vista and Office 2007 to businesses starting on November 30. This release was originally scheduled for the middle of November but Microsoft had to push it back even further because of some unexpected bugs that were found right before they were going to start the manufacturing process.

The consumer release is still slated for January 30 and we have been given a sneak peak at what the new packaging will look like. Until now I assumed that the inside of the packaging was going to be somewhat typical, but as you can see in the image the rounded corner on the case isn’t the only thing that is unique about the design. I’m sure that it isn’t purely for looks and is also created to cut down on retail theft, but from what I can see in the images the case doesn’t look nearly as secure as the hard shell that Windows XP has used.

if my computer could handle it, it would be a nice birthday or christmas present :D

I think people may pleasantly be surprised at how well it runs on slower computers. You may not be able to get all of the frills but Vista RC2 handles itself pretty good. The requirements say that it would run on an 800MHz machine…so unless you’re lower than that.

I’ll wait for SP1…or SP2. MS usually fixes several hundred bugs with the first service pack. I don’t think Vista will be any different. With every OS they release it the “Most Secure and Fastest Windows ever”.

If you upgrade your RAM for about $50 you could get a pretty smooth machine, because 2.2GHz is still pretty nice.
