CyberNet’s Year In Review: November 2006

November was when Vista got sent to the manufacturer to prepare for the November 30th business launch, and coincidentally it is also the month that Vista got leaked and cracked. Let's not forget that this is also when we posted our new site redesign along with starting the forum!

CyberNet’s Year In Review: October 2006

October was a slow month for new releases but two of the most popular browsers, Firefox and Internet Explorer, had huge milestones that took the spotlight.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: September 2006

Google had a couple of big releases in September but I think the Xbox 360 laptop definitely took the cake! That thing left me speechless after watching the video.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: August 2006

August was a huge month for Firefox since they hit the 200 million download mark. KDE (a Linux desktop) released a new Start Menu that is unlike any other that you have used before and continues to push Linux further and further.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: July 2006

This is the month that CyberNet switched over to a dedicated server to make sure we can handle our future traffic needs. It also seemed to be the month of cool things: a self-parking BMW, 4D globe,  Xbox 360 case mods, and more.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: June 2006

The Pirate Bay was the talk of the month since they had their servers seized and then quickly returned to them after authorities found no illegal content. To help crack down on piracy Microsoft also updated their Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) process to check for counterfeit versions of Windows XP...which unexpectedly identified legitimate versions of Windows as counterfeit.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: May 2006

In May 2006 Mozilla continued to keep quite about their Pocket PC Web browser and Gmail horror stories started to make their rounds around the Web. The most unforgettable thing in May was probably the magazine that reported on an April Fool's joke posted by another website.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: March 2006

March was more of a fun month with a lot of news from Google and a few big acquisitions. This is also when our site's traffic really got a boost.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: February 2006

February 2006...the fun continued with a delay in the first pre-release version of Firefox 2 and a free Flash Drive offer from Microsoft that apparently no one received.

CyberNet’s Year In Review: January 2006

As the New Year shines upon us (about 9 hours away in the United States - Central Time) we thought we should start recapping the events from the year. A few days ago we made a post looking back at the Firefox news but now it is time to broaden the scope a little bit.

PayPerPost Acquires Parts of Performancing

PayPerPost caused quite the buzz, and controversy when it launched back in June because they pay bloggers to write about advertisers' products. Now they're in the news again, acquiring parts of Performancing.  Performancing, a blog advertising network, has been one awesome tool for Bloggers to use. We too at one point used some of their services.  On their website, Performancing announces that PayPerPost has acquired their metrics and classifieds exchange.

Open Source Alternatives to Software You Use

Some of the most popular software in use on computers is open source. Personally, I would rate Firefox, OpenOffice.org, Gaim, FileZilla, Apache, and Thunderbird to be my favorite open source applications. That doesn't sound like much, but that's because I use a lot of freeware applications in addition to the open source software.
