I didn't bother with this even though I could get through. I believe that if someone has a software product, they don't have to upgrade to the version that comes out immediately after (but if they have something a few versions out of date they might want to look into upgrading), and since I have WinXP and Office 2003, I don't feel compelled to upgrade. Besides, they were offering the business versions when what I want are Home Premium and Student Edition (don't ask why).

On a related note: If you have Win2K or Office 2000/XP, now is the time to upgrade! ;)

Trannor wrote:
The blurb mentioning the taxes is a little misleading
you'll be taxed if you got BOTH. Not if you just got one or the other. Federal law states a gift over $600USD is taxable. Vista is $299 and Office is $499. So one alone isn't enough for taxability. Both together is $798 ...

Yes, it is only if you get both which is why they will send you one and then let you send back the form. Otherwise they would have to send you the form before they sent you either product.

I have tested this mentioned give-away version of M$-Office and I am still very unipressed with it. I think Openoffice 2 is a far better office software for daily use.

Thank you for sharing this story with me !

Hmmm...I reported on this two days ago which was the morning after it happened. At that time the site was so bogged down still that you could hardly get in.
