Hi,

I just wanted to get in touch to mention our newly launched website, TurfJam. Its an experiment in the worth of online advertising spaces.

Following on from Internet legends such as the Million Dollar Homepage, TurfJam is an advertising opportunity for marketeers and businesses.. however, the difference here is that each spot on TurfJam is being auctioned off. There are 100 pieces of “turf”, being released 10 at a time. As each auction runs and completes we will be updating and comparing the winning cost of each piece (all are the same size) to see how the price changes over time, and in relation to the number of pieces of turf left.

If you would like more information please visit www.turfjam.com or get in touch with any questions.

Regards,
Craig Williams

My name is Michael Blakeley, in three days time I was going to launch www.tickettoamillion.com but I have to bring this forward to today. It is the same idea as Alex Stews and I registered the domain name on the 16th August but he has miraculously come up with idea and launched three days before me.

Mine is the same idea but only a one off and a million dollars goes to one lucky entrant. Anyway please come and join my website is had taken me 4 months of hard work and asking favours to get it this far and It deserves to succeed. Check it out just to see how similar they are!!

Yeah, the clickthroughs won't be worth that much if people are just clicking to try to win.

Alright here's a site that's NOT the same as milliondollarhomepage. Cheaper too

http://www.seethewall.com

I have to say, I like this idea. It seems very creative, and it will at least draw many users to the site. The concerns seem legitimate, though, so Tew might need to put some sort of spin on it, but I think, in the end, everyone will benefit. After all, if lots of people go to the site, a customer still might be attracted to a product right before they close a window. ;) Maybe he could make it so that only ten of your clicks will count a day.

Regardless, congratulations Mr. Tew! :D

Insane? Yes. Creative? Maybe. Overall I'm unimpressed by all this. Alex has brought garbage gullibility marketing to the internet. Big deal. Advertisers are getting low value at high price. I wouldn't be too proud of that.

Anyone who thinks this won’t be successful, look at all the buzz it’s created on TechCrunch. Almost 100 comments in less then a day? Plus the fact that he has an existing client list from his last project, what makes you think they won’t pay a few more bucks to get some more publicity. It would be interesting if he gave out a prize to the “winning” link too, to drive more advertisers to buy space, but I guess they inherently make money with more user clicks.

If anyone is interested in pixel advertising and art in general, you should check out http://www.citypixel.com . It’s quite an amazing site and they definitely put a spin on internet pixel ads.

Anyway, I wish Mr. Tew all the luck in the world, and trust me I will be one of many clicking away hoping to win the million bucks!

I think that if he could get the Million Dollar Homepage to work that he could get this "clone" to as well, since there is the extra incentive that people will be pushed to the site. I'm sure a majority of people will close the window immediately just like you said, but I'm sure something will still attract advertisers.

I was never a fan of the Million Dollar Homepage, but this is a great idea. I think the only problem is, I don't think he realises that his click through rates aren't worth much at all. Who's going to want someone just to visit their site and close it? All that does is waste bandwidth. It's been proven that clicking incentives don't work.

Hey, I don’t belive this! I’ve just set up two sites, both working around this concept!
The first one is www.cashcells.co.uk : This site offers the user clicking on the adverts the chance to win $$$, the total size of the prize is directly related to the number of adverts.
The second site is www.microlotto.co.uk : This site gives the advertiser who buys a square the chance to win in a sort of ‘cell lottery’ set up. Check em out!
