CyberNotes: We’re Giving Away 2 Licenses for MojoPac!
Read this to find out how you can get a free license key for MojoPac… we have 2 to give away!
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could take your computer with you no matter where you are? If you have a laptop, this isn’t so difficult, but when you rely on a desktop computer, this becomes an issue. It’s always nice to have all of the applications that you want, the music that you like, and of course all of your important documents, files, and settings. Of course there are the portable apps, but what about your documents, or your music library? Being able to take your computer with you no matter where you are isn’t so difficult with the use of MojoPac. MojoPac makes use of devices such as an iPod, USB Drive, or any other USB 2.0 storage device to bring your applications and documents with you no matter what computer you’re on. There is bound to be a use for MojoPac for anyone; from the student to the professional.
–What is MojoPac–
MojoPac acts as it’s own PC which means that once you install it, you’ll need to install all of the applications on top of Mojo that you’re wanting to use. The Mojopac website offers a great demo that gives you an idea of what to expect while using it. Using Mojo gives you the portability of a laptop and allows you to have your applications, settings, and data with you no matter what computer you’re using. Besides acting as a portable computer, there are other versatile uses for MojoPac. If you share your PC, this is a great way to have your personalized setup at all times. This would mean that your browser settings, files, etc. would remain as you always had them.
When using your iPod, you’re able to install iTunes and QuickTime so that you can download your favorite songs and Podcasts. You don’t have to be on just one computer to have access to your iTunes account (but you will need to have a copy of the songs on the storage device in order to synchronize them with your iPod as well). If you’re at work or school and you’d like to download a song, no problem! Another awesome idea is to use it as your personal PC backup. You never know when your computer might crash, and your files are gone for good. MojoPac would serve as a reliable back-up. If you’re big into gaming, you can install your games and have them with you at all times, ready to play on any computer. If you typically use your laptop, and the battery has died, you can take your USB 2.0 portable device and move to another computer to continue your work.
They have created a list of applications that will most likely work well with MojoPac. It is divided into categories with a good list of apps in each category. Of course, there are others that potentially will work, however these are the tested applications. The categories with a sample of applications are:
- Business and Productivity (Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop)
- Games (World of Warcraft, Warcraft III, PartyPoker Client)
- Communication and Instant Message Clients (AIM, Google Talk, Trillian)
- Browsers (IE6, Firefox 1.5, Opera 9)
- Multimedia Applications (iTunes 6&7, Windows Media Player, Winamp 5)
- Photo and Graphics Editing (Picasa, Flickr Uplodr, AutoCAD 2007)
- Email Clients (Outlook 2003, Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5)
- Developer Applications (MySQL 5.0, Visual Studio 2003)
- Security (Anonymizer, Spybot, Ad-Aware Personal SE 1.06)
- Miscellaneous (Yahoo Widgets, Google Earth, Nero 7, Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006)
–Download/Cost–
Currently, they are offering a free download trial to get a taste of what MojoPac is all about. The product is free to use for 30 days or 200 boots- whichever comes first. The trial can then be converted into the licensed version after you make the purchase and enter in the product key. Pricing is as follows:
- Holiday Special: $29.99 for one license, up to three additional licenses for $14.99 each.
- Regular Pricing: $49.99 for one license, up to three additional licenses for$24.99 each.
Licensing is per USB 2.0 storage device. That means that if you’re wanting to use it for an iPod and a USB Drive, you’ll need two different licenses.
The holiday special is really a great deal, and if you’re interested, you may want to buy now before it goes back to regular pricing.
– System Requirements –
Alright, so what are the system requirements? First, you’ll need your USB 2.0 storage device. If you’re wanting to use an iPod, essentially any of the latest iPod’s will work. The exception to this is the iPod shuffle, you’ll be out of luck with this device. If you’re using a USB hard drive, you’ll need a top-tier high performing drive. They recommend Seagate, Western Digital, or Hitachi brands. When using a USB Flash Drive, they recommend Memorex, Sandisk, OCZ, or Lexar. You must be using USB 2.0, otherwise Mojo won’t work.
The minimum storage that you will need is 128MB. However, you’ll have to keep in mind what you’re installing and how much room that will take up. For example, if you’re using Microsoft Office 2003, you’ll need 600 MB alone for that. They recommend a 2GB device or larger.
For the Host PC that you’ll be using, it will need to running Windows XP (Home/Pro (sp1, sp2), Media Center Edition (2003, 2005) or Tablet PC). They also recommend 512MB of Ram, although 256MB could get you by.
– Security –
One of the first things I thought about when I read about Mojopac was security. If I’m placing all of my important documents onto a shared computer at work, school etc., I want to be sure that it will be secure. Mojo appears to have thought this all through! First of all, it is password protected which means that if you were to ever lose your device, a password would be needed get access to your information. More importantly, anything that you have on your MojoPac will not be stored on the Host PC that you’re using. This includes settings, documents, etc. They also offer protection from viruses with a “layer of isolation.” If you’re hopping from computer to computer, you never know what type of virus protection they use, if any.
– In a Nutshell–
Mojopac gives you unbelievable portability with the capability to take your applications, settings, and data with you to any device no mater where you are. Your data is never left behind, and all of your applications and files are password protected to keep everything secure. System Requirements are pretty basic which makes this accessible to anyone that has a PC operating on XP. If you’re interested, take advantage of their holiday special and save $20.00! Whether you’re a student, parent, or a professional, there is bound to be at least one way you can use MojoPac.
How to get your FREE license for MojoPac!
We are fortunate enough to have 2 license keys for the complete version of MojoPac that we can’t wait to give-away! All you have to do is tell us in the comments below why it would be useful for you…that shouldn’t be difficult! We’ll randomly pick two people that submitted a ”legitimate” response (just saying “I want it!” is an example of what not to do). It doesn’t need to be long, we only expect a sentence or two. The winners will be announced on Wednesday morning (December 27) after the holiday rush has slowed down a bit.
Remember to include your email address in your comment. This is how we will send you the license key (we already have them, ready to give-away!).
Thanks for the tip Chris!

I didn’t heard about MojoPac until today. For me it would be useful for carrying ALL of my configurations to my job… As I don’t have a laptop this would be great.
Thanks for the information
I’d love to have Mojopac for a variety of purposes. I train people and often want to demonstrate alternatives - sometimes I want to demonstrate software I own rather than what is available on the training machine. Other times, I develop and want to carry demonstrations of programs with me to clients.
I run a small consulting company here at the Jersey shore. This would be absolutely perfect to put on a portable USB drive that I can carry with me all the time. I’ve never heard of this application before but it really looks useful.

Students like me have multiple computers. While portable apps like FirefoxPortable are nice, there are many student programs that aren’t portable. MojoPac sounds like the thing I need.
Well, I use a 20Gb INOi MP3HDD with plenty of portable apps, for use everywhere I go and need my own data and apps. It’s my travelling office.
With MojoPac I’d have much more flexibility and liberty.
Thanks Ashley!
My mom (78 & going strong:~ ) lives on the East Coast while I am on the West. MojoPac would be a tremendous help in traveling between the coasts as I could leave the computer at home.
Hey sssup Ryan
THis is an Amazing Program(NT exaggeratin things for a license)
I used the Demo on my 4 Gig Transcend and It worked like a charm.
THis would be Useful for me to help me Maintain my Privacy

I WANT IT or rather I Need It
We are in the middle of an adoption, and will be making some trips to Bulgaria. The adoption is breaking the bank and I can’t afford a laptop right now. Being able to bring along my programs with all my settings would make it so much easier to blog everything for the anxious grandma’s and grandpa’s back here in the US.
MojoPac would prove useful in both personal settings and customizations to my computers at work and home, but also for bringing security and troubleshooting applications along when people ask me for advice and help on their computers, which happens on a a routine basis.

sry for the Double post
I’m a student doing MS in the US, I’m from India. We have computers everywhere in our university campus, it would be sweet if I could carry some useful data home.
I would love to have one so that I could carry my games around with me and be able to play them at my friends houses, without the need to locally install them.
Also, since you can encrypt the volume, I would carry my thunderbird mail with me.
I would like to win MojoPac as i move from one computer to other many days of the week and it would be helpful if i was able use my own setting anywhere i go
As our school technology specialist, the use of MojoPac on my portable harddrive would allow me to work more effectively and would be great for when I need to go and help at other schools where I am not an administrator. I currently use Portable Apps for some of my apps, but this will make it even better.
Hmm, sounds strange. I’m not exactly sure what it does but I guess anything for free is good (I’ll assume that since you posted it it’s not crapware).
It certainly sounds like a good idea - I can see this type of product or technique becoming the way of the future, i.e. everyone having a USB device that they “jack in” to the nearest computer they are using and never ever have to worry about settings and what the PC they are using is set-up like.
I’d love to try it out, I’d want to see how secure the system was, which is pretty much my most important factor in USB-keying and jacking in with my data to other computers. Right now, I use encryption, which is great and tough to beat but isn’t the easiest to manage as far as gaining access to your data on a public PC.
Maybe this is the solution.
Let’s see…
Carrying my work around with me (applications, websites I’m developing), IDEs, games (Half-Life) to my friend’s houses, software that I use that people won’t/can’t install for whatever reason. Also, I sometimes work in environments where they have Deep Freeze installed (I never understood why), and I sometimes run into the annoying problem of having to install an application over and over and over…
I’d probably think of something else if I had it…
Ever since I got my iPod Nano (almost a year ago), I’ve been looking for a way to decentralize iTunes so that I can sync my iPod from nearly any PC. This is exactly what I need! I also love the idea that I can take my desktop with me anywhere I go!
tried the trial long time ago but the full version is whats worth using.
ilkeryoldas@hotmail.com
as a networking and general lover of new software, i will be happy to be able to have my personnal stuff on every pc i can put my little fingers on.
Going to try my luck.
I access my site and at times blogs from other persons computers.
I hate leaving traces behinds. Also other computers don’t have the apps I would like to run and hence my work gets limited.
MojoPac will make it possible to continue my work as is without having to make any changes to guest operating systems. Wouldn’t want to piss off those friends and relatives
Mojopac seems like an excellent product!
I would love to have this to carry all my system programs to work (I work in a computer repair shop) instead of trying to “make” portable versions. Also, I go to school art-time and this would be great for my Office programs.
Really hope I get picked!
When I need to bring work home, I will only need an external USB drive instead of lugging the heavy laptop.
I always wanted to install my softwares once and wanted to use them on all my PCs.
Recently I heard of one such technology called U3. I came across these feature on the Sandisk 1 GB U3 drive that I bought recently.
When I read about the Mojo PC software it sounded exactly like the U3 technology but here the additional choice I have is to pick up the device which I want to use as my portable drive.
If this really works, then I can install the most commonly used softwares on my external USB Hard disk and can hook it to my other computers there by saving in my aspects.
Hopefully I will get a chance to use this application.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to Ryan.
Siva
I think it would be an awesome thing to try. I’m always into trying new pieces of software and technology in general. This sounds like a neat app, and I’ve honestly never heard of it before. Sounds cool, just install all the things on your USB drive right?
I’ve been using the trial on my 20 GB iPod for 2 weeks, it works great. I’m going to IT school part time, going to change career. I don’t have high speed internet so I use the library and school’s hi-speed access to download my podcasts thru iTunes, it leaves no trace on their machines. Also use other apps on it. It’s a great way to maximize the iPod. It’s like a virtual machine only better.
my mom and dad are divorced so sometimes i am at dad house and moms sometimes. i am at grandmas house after school or at my baby sitter. my dad said i can put mojopack on my ipod and he will help me so i can play games at my dads house and my mom’s house or grandmas house.
I would use it with my Sansa mp3 player for Outlook 2003 and Firefox.
I’m an IT student mostly using a borrowed pc’s. I would buy a license myself but this time we havn’t to much money, couse we got a baby (kinda expensive experience) and my wife will have to stay at home for the next 3 years. Today I read your article and hope for a little bit luck.
ps.: sorry for my bad English, unfortunaly I’ll get it first next year at school. I learned this little bit on my own via internet.
Hi!
I need it because I’m IT specialist (but not vocational). I help other people with their pc problems in my sparetime (just for fun, not for money). You would help me to help other people.
I would love it because in a normal day, I move between about 4 different computers and am having a hard time trying to sync everything between them. Settings, programs, etc; it’s hard to get things on each computer just right. MojoPac seems to be a great solution for my issue.
I was wondering if I could test all the applications in the world without worrying about corrupting windows. Can I really do it.
The winners have been chosen by this point, so any further comments are not entered in the drawing.
I’m China now, when I see Mojopac, I know that’s really what I need, please keep one for me if you have more of them.
fatcoon@hotmail.com
that’s my email address.
Truly thanks.
i’m a software developing hobbyist, and mojo is very useful for me to take my work with me to school, so i can continue working there easily.
ugh.. this compettion has ended though hasn’t it?
Yes it finished on the December 27th, 2006
Sorry…
