Yesterday Bill Gates announced to some of the CES attendees some features that will be part of the Windows Extras. One of the new features that really stood out to me was the Windows DreamScene which allows you to add videos (MPEG and WMV) to your desktop to give an extremely unique experience.
Integrating the new technology of Microsoft's Windows Vista, Yahoo has designed a new messenger from the ground up. It's being previewed at CES (the Consumer Electronics show) going on in Las Vegas, Nevada right now. It's expected to be launched as a beta, and shortly after to the public sometime in the second quarter this year.
Microsoft is apparently making a Vista Ultimate Signature Edition available for the first 20,000 people looking to pick up a copy of the upgrade version on Amazon. They don't actually say how many copies they do have on hand, but the image that they made available of the packaging shows that they print your "serial number" on the box, which is out of 20,000.
Sony originally forecasted that 400,000 PlayStation 3 consoles would be sold on launch day. Launch day came and went, and not even half of the projected amount were sold.
CES is off and running with Bill Gates as a keynote speaker kicking things off. It's a big CES for Microsoft, with the Windows Vista launch in less than a month. His keynote was entitled 'Connected Experiences' in which Gates talked about what a connected lifestyle might look like, and a vision for this in the not so far future.
