We are currently in communication with Digg support to figure out why we are banned. They responded saying that the site had been unbanned, but it shows up saying that that the "URL is blocked". Also, instead of just being banned for tech.cybernetnews.com we are actually banned for all of our subdomains as well.

I have indeed heard about that Spotplex, and it does look interesting. It should be pretty easy for Spotplex to realize what articles are actually popular by looking at the traffic of a normal article on a site and compare it with one they think is popular. If the traffic is, for example, double what a normal article is then maybe that would be considered popular. Of course the ratio will need to be adjusted based upon the specific site, but that is how I would develop the algorithm.

What Digg really needs to do is improve it's quality. For a site to have thousands of submissions a day and only have a few interesting posts a day is an awful return.

All Digg is proving is that an edited site like this one can produce a better quality site - it's whole model just isn't working anymore.

Have you come across Spotplex.com yet? Slightly different take, but I'm not sure how it will share traffic equally or how articles from small sites will hit the homepage.

Now this leaves me wondering how many of these "paid" stories have actually made it to the front page. That would help explain a lot. ;)

I hate Digg. There are so many pointless stories it sad.

When ever I visited Digg there seemed to be a lot of stories about...Digg! It was like the community was pulling it's own chain.
