Wii will soon get Multiplayer Online Games

GamespywiiWii fans, get ready to play games online! Nintendo is once again teaming up with GameSpy to bring multiplayer online games to the Wii, something Nintendo has been criticized for previously.

The technology from GameSpy would be provided to game publishers so that they can incorporate the multiplayer online option into their games.  This means that people would be able to create lists of friends for different games, advanced matchmaking would be possible, and comprehensive rankings would give you the bigger picture of how you stand-up to players around the world.

The first game that will have this option is Pokemon Battle Revolution which will be launching late June, with others following.

This comes shortly after Sony announced their Playstation Home, an online virtual world to respond to the complaints that they were lacking in the online support area.

What games would you like to see incorporate the multiplayer online feature?

I’m very happy about this news. I’m big into the sports games…so I’d love to see something like Madden online.

I would love to see Wii Sports online with some sort of patch. Any sports games for that matter. And I would like to see racing games have online multiplayer capabilities.

Sports games seem to be pretty popular with the Wii… probably because of the extra fun with the controller? I’m sure they’ll get to adding online multiplayer sports games eventually.

I would first like to see a Wii console on any store shelf so I could buy one!

You still haven’t managed to get your hands on one? It’s amazing that it’s March and the shelves are still empty. Maybe come Summer you’ll get lucky :)

Finally…this certainly a very good news. I have been waiting for Nintendo to release some type of new for online gaming. Man I am stoked for the possibility, like Animal Crossing online. Also not to mentions 3rd parties can have their games online I hoping for FF Crystal Chronicles to be online.

I’d like to see some online shooters , some mmorpg type stuff would be great too for the wii. I dont really wanna have to buy a 360 just for halo 3 so something to compete with that would be nice

Might be tough to find something that will compete with Halo 3 though.
