MySpace News Screenshots Leak Out

Wired News is reporting that a leaked document from Fox Interactive confirms that MySpace News is in the works. When MySpace was asked about the news site, as expected, they had no comment.

From a PowerPoint slide explaining MySpace News, it says that it will take news to a whole new level.  Much like Digg, users will be able to rate and comment on news that has been aggregated and pulled from blogs and other sites all over the web.

It seems as though they’re building MySpace into a place where a user would never have a need to leave.  They can catch up with friends, watch their favorite movie clips, listen to music, and now read the latest news. Within that same PowerPoint, it says “MySpace users previously had to leave the site to find comprehensive news, gossip, sporting news, etc. With MySpace News, we bring the news to them.”

They’re also using this as a way to help advertisers narrow in on their targeted audience, because they’ll be able to select a category of news that will best relate to their product.

MySpace definitely has the traffic, but whether or not that traffic will be interested in catching up on news is yet to be known.
