The Truth Behind Computer Repairs (Geek Squad, Fry’s, and More)

Since I am pretty knowledgeable about the internal workings of a computer, I often find myself helping others find the light at the end of the tunnel. By that I mean people who are having problems with their computers and have no idea where to begin.

There has been some news making its way out that Microsoft will soon be launching what everyone calls the “Live Drive.” The service will more than likely be called Windows Live Folders which is something Microsoft accidentally revealed on their online feedback site.

DivShare Pro Includes FTP Uploads and 2GB Files!

Last night, DivShare launched their DivShare pro accounts that they had mentioned were coming.  Most people will probably be satisfied with the free account option, but just in case, the Pro accounts have a lot of great features and an attractive price that makes it worth it.

MySpace and Photobucket are Friends Again

A couple of weeks ago, Photobucket and MySpace were feuding again (round 2) after MySpace blocked Photobucket videos and video remixes from displaying on MySpace profiles. Photobucket turned to their users to protest this move by MySpace and pressure them to change.

Dell Tablet PC Expected by the End of October?

Rumors are flying once again that Dell is planning to launch a Tablet PC towards the end of October. This is far from the first time that I have heard about a Dell Tablet PC that is supposedly in-the-works, but it seems to be a lot more credible this time around.

Try Google’s New Search Layout Yourself

We have known for about a month that Google was testing a new search layout that is pictured above. Google tests new layouts all of the time, and we didn’t report on that one because it really isn’t that big of a change. The only real difference is that they moved the links up to the top of the page and placed a nice gradient behind the “Results 1–10” bar.

Facebook entering Twitter Turf?

No one can argue about Twitter’s recent explosion in popularity that started around March. However, you’ll find plenty of people arguing over whether or not it will last.  Many are saying that this is just a fad, that’ll be over as quick as it started, others are saying this is just the beginning.

CyberNotes Giveaway: NoteScraps is the Perfect Post-it Note Replacement

One of the ways that I keep myself organized is by writing little notes here and there, and making €œto-do€ lists. It's suited me well, but the problem is that sometimes the notes have important information that I want to hang on to, and so I never throw them out.

Particles: Dodge the Ever Increasing Bouncing Balls

I’ve only tried it on a laptop, but I think it would be easier with an actual mouse. Once the balls start hitting each other and picking up speed, it gets tricky. Try it and let us know what your best score is. My best so far, and it’s not all that great, is 91 seconds which earned me a B- (you get a grade). Enjoy!

Hack a Mac for a New Computer and $10,000

Hack a Mac was an offer that was put out to anybody who thought they could do it.  The prize? A new MacBook, and potentially $10,000. The point? Macs aren’t as secure as everybody thinks and Apple needs to pay more attention to this.

Apple Patches 25 Mac OS X Security Flaws

Apple just got done issuing an update for Mac OS X yesterday that fixed 25 security flaws in the operating system. Many of the bugs being fixed were all found during the “Month of Apple Bugs” from back in January. Luckily there is no record that any hackers attempted to exploit the bugs that were found.

Intel’s Core 2 Duo Pushing AMD into the Red?

It was no surprise that AMD posted a loss for the first quarter. However, their loss was quite a bit more than expected– $611 million. There are plenty of factors that contribute to this loss, but I think Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor definitely could have contributed to it.

Google Search History now Web History – Beefed Up Bookmarking

Google has quietly made a big change to their search history feature.  It’s now been renamed to “Web History,” a revamped personalized search.  The biggest difference is that it keeps a history of every site you’ve gone to, not just the Google Searches you’ve done.

Amazon (Alexa) vs. Statsaholic

You’ve probably heard of Statsaholic by now.  It was formerly named Alexaholic, and the service allowed you to enter up to five different domains and compare their Alexa traffic statistics. They called it traffic comparisons on steroids, and it did everything that Alexa probably should have done from the start. It was a better product.
