A recent research study indicates that broadband Internet usage in homes is up to 53% in the United States. In all, 72% of Internet connections in the US are broadband compared to 60% last year. Slowly but surely, dial-up is making it’s way out the door.

Mozilla finally plans on unleashing the Firefox 2 upgrade onto all Firefox 1.5.0.12 users. Starting later today, and continuing for the first few weeks, the upgrade will only be available for those people using 1.5.0.12 that are also on the "beta" channel. According to Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet, Microsoft is working on customized Windows platforms for various rooms around the house like the kitchen. This makes sense because we’ve already seen computers integrated into refrigerators (LG Electronics) to do some of what would be included with the Windows-based client that they’re currently working on.

Google has just added another element of customization to Google Calendars with their directory for public calendars with calendars that can be integrated into your own personal calendar. The directory includes a variety of different calendars divided into categories, so searching and browsing is easy. Categories include:

  • Entertainment
