Broadband Internet Usage Up to 53% in US Homes

A recent research study indicates that broadband Internet usage in homes is up to 53% in the United States. In all, 72% of Internet connections in the US are broadband compared to 60% last year. Slowly but surely, dial-up is making it’s way out the door.

Firefox 1.5 to 2.0 Upgrades to Start Rolling Out Today

Mozilla finally plans on unleashing the Firefox 2 upgrade onto all Firefox 1.5.0.12 users. Starting later today, and continuing for the first few weeks, the upgrade will only be available for those people using 1.5.0.12 that are also on the "beta" channel. When the update pops up it will look something like this:

Windows-Based Kitchen Client Coming Soon?

According to Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet, Microsoft is working on customized Windows platforms for various rooms around the house like the kitchen. This makes sense because we’ve already seen computers integrated into refrigerators (LG Electronics) to do some of what would be included with the Windows-based client that they’re currently working on.

Big news comes today as LogMeIn releases a preview version of their application for the Mac OS. If you own more than one computer, LogMeIn is a must. It allows you to connect to any PC (or now Mac) computer located anywhere in the world using only your browser, and it’s free.

Alright, many of us have been waiting for Mozilla to get Places into the Firefox Alpha releases and it has finally happened. Alpha 5 comes to us one-week late, but marks the beginning of Places which could end up being a beautiful thing.
