Google Analytics Taken Out of Beta- Hourly Reporting Back!
Ever since the new version of Google Analytics was released early in May, there has been a lot of feedback/complaints about some of the features, or lack thereof. Today they announced several changes with one of them being that Google Analytics has been taken out of beta. They also listened to the user feedback and made extra effort to incorporate new features and change some of the things that users had complained about.
One of my biggest complaints after they launched their new version was that there was no hourly reporting which I had gotten used to using with the old Analytics. Thankfully it’s back, but they didn’t make it the easiest feature to find. It took me a few minutes, but I finally found it.
To get the hourly reporting:
- Click Visitors>Visit Trending>Visits
- Then you’ll notice print that says “view by: daily|hourly”
- The last step is to go up to the date-range selected and view the calendar to select the day that you’d like hourly stats for. By default, it’ set to display a range.
Other major features that you’ll notice with this release:
- Clickable URLs
- Cross Segmentation by Network Location
- Increased number of data rows per page
- Bounce Rate increase/decrease
- AdWords Integration
I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems that I have to do a lot more clicking now than I did before to get the information that I want. Granted, Analytics has heaps of information so I’m sure it’s hard to organize, but I just feel like I’m doing a lot more clicking.
If anything, I’m just happy that the hourly reporting is back. On a whole, the site looks better, but if you’re just getting started, it may take you some time to navigate your way around and find all of the features that make Analytics as useful as it is.
