While online applications have turned into the next “big thing,” taking them offline seems to be just as big. ThinkFree has just announced that they are taking their Online Office Suite Offline with ThinkFree Premium Edition.
This morning my brother pointed out that the Google IG page had a little drop-down menu next to the name of the tab. I took a look at it real quick, and didn’t see anything that looked special. It had the option to rename and delete tabs, which could previously be done anyways.

Dell has now taken the first step at removing some of the bloat from the computers they ship to consumers. Now when purchasing a computer you’ll have the option to opt-out of productivity software, ISP software, and photo/music management software. That’s good because many of those things are probably uninstalled by the users when they first get the computer.
Multi-touch is undoubtedly the new technology fad. The iPhone has it, Microsoft Surface has it, reactable has it, and before you know it your kitchen counters will all be one big multi-touch screen. The next move for multi-touch devices, however, is seemingly obvious...a replacement for the Tablet PC’s.
Rumors are running rampant that Yahoo is considering acquiring MySpace. This isn’t just some random rumor either – The New York Times is reporting that News Corp. and Yahoo have discussed the idea. It’s a pretty “loose proposal” as the New York Times says, but the idea has been thrown out there.
Well, it happened...again. Microsoft lost the war against Google in regards to the integrated search feature that Vista has. Google was upset at just how integrated the search capabilities are in Vista, and wanted a way to implement their own instant search throughout the operating system.
If you’re keeping track, get out your list of Google Acquisitions for the year and add Zenter to it. Google just announced that they have acquired Zenter which is software for online slide presentations.

One thing that Microsoft did a good job of in Internet Explorer 7 was making it easy for users to read feeds. They provided a feed reader that was so simple, yet it does exactly what most casual users want, and that is to keep up on the latest news from around the Web.

We have already mentioned the Googleplex Solar Power Project in which Google started covering their campus with solar panels. As of now, over 90% of the panels have been installed with panels covering eight buildings, and solar car-ports called solar trees filling the parking lots.
Speculation is now over as to what the new Opera Mini 4 feature is...PC-like Web browsing! When I first saw this feature I was wondering how well it was going to work, but it is actually really incredible. Just like the iPhone you get a zoomed-out view of a website, and then you can zoom into certain areas of the site by navigating around with the cursor.
Last week I mentioned that Yahoo Photos is closing, and that there are several alternatives for replacement services. If you choose one of Yahoo’s selected services, it’s a one-click migration process. There are five different services available as alternatives, and some of them are offering incentives if you select them.

One of Vista’s features that I use all of the time is the new Alt-Tab for switching between applications. Unlike Windows XP, Vista actually shows thumbnails for each application that you are running so that it is easier to identify what you’re looking for.

Earlier today Opera Watch posted a reminder of the pending Opera Mini 4 Beta release that’s coming tomorrow. What’s so big about this release? Well, only a handful of people actually know, but the Opera Mini team has posted some clues as to what the big new feature is.
HD DVD’s and Blu-Ray DVD formats have been battling ever since they entered the market as competitors. Now Blu-Ray has a huge supporter on their side as Blockbuster has decided that when they increase their selection of high definition DVD’s next month, Blu-Ray will be the chosen format. This will occur in 1,450 stores and will be another push to determine which format will be the overall market preference.
Several of you expressed interest in FastAero the last time I wrote about it, so here is an update on the progress. A new version was just released today that has pretty much been rewritten, and boasts some performance updates which appears to help quite a bit!
