How It All Began...

The image below is a clipping from a newspaper in 1976 when the original Apple-1 computer was being advertised. A few things really stood out, but one of them was the Apple logo (bottom of left column). Wow, good thing they changed that, huh? The next thing that stood out was the price – $666.66?

Lots of people are talking about the rumor that TripAdvisor has acquired the Facebook application “Where I’ve been” for a whopping $3 million dollars! It hasn’t been confirmed quite yet, but it’s likely to be true. Why is it such a big payday? Well, considering that the app made it’s grand entrance on Facebook around June 8th, developer Craig Ulliott has then made about $43,000 each day his app has been available. Not too shabby!

Sourcefire announced today that they acquired the open source antivirus application called ClamAV. This news conveniently comes just one week after ClamAV was ranked one of the best antivirus applications for the Linux operating system. It even beat out almost all of the commercial solutions that were available.

You may recall last summer when “Google” was added to both the Oxford English Dictionary and the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary as a verb. Everyone wants their computer to restart as fast as possible, and I for one am always looking to shave a little time off of that number. As it stands right now my laptop (running Vista) can bootup and become usable in about 45-seconds, but a fraction of that time is spent loading the BIOS.
