Silverlight 1.0 Released – Linux Support Coming Soon

Late last night Microsoft announced that they had released Silverlight 1.0, and to mark the occasion they also said that Linux support would be coming soon.

Windows Live Writer now has XHTML Support

Looks like I was right about there being a new Live Writer released today. The Live Writer blog just announced that Beta 3 has been made available, and it can be downloaded by anyone and everyone.

It looks like Microsoft is pulling a Google and offering their most popular apps in a unified package. Well, it's not exactly like the Google Pack because Microsoft is only including their own homegrown programs, whereas Google also includes some third-party software (such as Norton and Skype).

Apple Announces iPod Touch and $399 8GB iPhone

It's a big day for Apple at their "And the Beat Goes on" gathering today in San Francisco. The two biggest announcements are the launch of the iPod Touch which looks extremely similar to the iPhone, and a huge price drop for the 8GB iPhone. There were also a handful of other announcements which I'll include at the end in brief. Without further ado, let's talk about the iPod Touch!

GDrive Coming to Google Apps?

Much like the Google Phone, the rumors of a Google file backup/storage service called GDrive have been around for a while now (here and here).  Originally it was thought to be just a service for Google employees to store and share files, but now we have further indication that it might be released to the public.

OpenOffice.org 2.3 is on the home stretch with the first Release Candidate being made available today. It's been over 5-months since OpenOffice.org 2.2 was released, and I'm sure most users will be welcoming this update with open arms.

Some of you may recall back in May when Palm announced their Linux-based notebook that was designed to be extremely portable and disk-less. Countless Palm fans were excited for the launch of Foleo which featured a 10-inch screen, a full-sized keyboard, and would connect wirelessly with your Palm smartphone.

Replace the Task Manager with Process Explorer 11!

Process Explorer is one of the must-have apps for any Windows power user. It doesn't require any installation for you to use it, and it can show you things like which application has a specific file or folder open. Honestly this is something that I've always hoped would ship with Windows as an "advanced" mode option, but I'm just grateful that Microsoft has continued to keep this project alive.
