Nero 8 Download Leaked 3-Weeks Early

Last month we reported that the Nero 8 download would be available to buyers on October 1st, but pirates can get it starting today! As with many high-profile applications this one has been leaked to the file sharing networks a full 3-weeks before the consumer release was scheduled. And as expected screenshots are also making their way around the Web: StartSmart, Burning Rom, Vision, and Showtime.

Ringles = Singles and Ringtones all in One

We've already heard over and over again that sales of CD's are down, way down. People are turning to online services like iTunes to get their music and therefore have no reason to go out and purchase entire CD's from retailers. Alta Vista's Babel Fish Translation was probably one of the first more well-known translation services, but many more have popped up since it first launched.

iTunes Movie Rentals on the Way?

It appears as though movie rentals from iTunes are on the way! This is one of those things that just makes sense for Apple to do. They already sell movies on iTunes, and they sell Apple TV which they promote as "iTunes to Apple TV, wire free," so why not rent movies to make Apple TV and their iPods capable of playing movies that much more appealing?

CyberNotes: Meanings Behind Microsoft Code Names

“Code Names” have been around for hundreds of years, although the reasons they are used have varied.  For example, militaries around the world have used code names, as do some governments and corporations . A series of posts Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet has done regarding some of Microsoft’s code names got me intrigued with  how they come up with the names that they use, and the meaning behind them.
