A few days ago I claimed that ReNamer was the best free file renamer available, and Mouser over at Donation Coder decided to prod their readers to see if they had come across any that were better. One member, iphigenie, mentioned a program called Flexible Renamer (a.k.a. FlexRenamer) that I decided to test out.
In the latest Firefox 3 meeting notes Mozilla linked to a mockup of what they would like to see the Places Organizer look like when all is said and done. Despite being mentioned for the first time in the meeting notes this design () is actually several weeks old.
It's nice to see DRM come stumbling down, but that doesn't exactly mean it's the end of file protection as we know it. Microsoft had patent 7,266,697 approved last week that would essentially replace DRM on music files with a watermark.
Microsoft is doing all they can to stop people from pirating their software, especially students.

Last week, Netscape posted an announcement that they were calling it quits with their "Digg-Clone" social media site. They said that after a study, they found that people didn't associate the Netscape brand with socially controlled news, therefore they were moving on. They also promised though, that their social news site would be around, just not at the Netscape.com domain.

Those of you following Engadget lately can obviously tell that they have been all over the iPhone unlocking software, and over the last week they have probably tossed up a dozen articles on the topic. Is that a bad thing? Not at all. It just means that there has been a lot of competition to be the first to release a software unlocker hack for the iPhone.

Could you imagine having a browser without a bookmarking system? To me that would be like using a computer that doesn't let you copy and paste...it's almost impossible to fathom what that would be like! So I think it is safe to say that bookmarks are important for productivity, but the real question is, what can we do to make it better?
