New Poll: How Big is Your USB Drive?

September 28th, 2007
14 Comments Written by Ashley

It’s time for a new poll! Last time we were wondering how clean your desktop was, so we asked: “How many icons and files are on your desktop?” Here are the results:

  1. 33% said: Under 20 - Things are thrown there until I get around to them.
  2. 25% said: Under 5 - Only the things I use the most.
  3. 18% said: A lot! My desktop is a dumping ground.
  4. 14% said: Nothing touches my desktop.
  5. 10% said: I like having the Recycle Bin.

It looks like those who have nothing, or nothing but the Recycle Bin are in the minority here with just 24% of the votes combined.

New Poll: How Big is your USB Drive

A few days ago, Ryan pointed out five extremely expensive computer accessories with one of them being a 64GB USB Drive priced at $4,749.99. Yes, 64 gigs of space for one low price. :) Most of us don’t have that kind of money to spend on a USB Drive, nor do we need that much storage to carry around on a key chain! So now we’re wondering, how big is your USB Drive? If you don’t have one, you can let us know that too.

64 GB USB Hard Drive

  • 64 MB or less
  • 256 MB or less
  • 1GB or less
  • 2GB or less
  • Over 2GB
  • I don’t own a USB Drive

Just got mine in the mail the other day from buy.com (the one that y’all had the article about getting for $6.99).

Mines a gig…I got it for $70 years ago, when that was a lot of space. But it has served it’s purpose well, as it is used for school work and I have had years of school work on it and still only managed to fill up a bit of a half of the space. :D

I have a half gig one that I couldn’t fill if I tried. I can’t imagine people needing that much room with PDA’s, cell phones, and all the other ways we can now access our information.

I have two thumb drives that are 2 GIG’s each. I have one that is dedicated to Readyboost and the other I use to carry things between work and home. I also have a 3 1/2 in hard drive enclosure that is pretty small and I have an 808 GIG drive in it currently. Micro Center always has very cheap thumb drives. The 2 gig models were only $17 each.

    This poll is inadequate… I’ve got a 2gb and a 4gb…

I got one at a garage sale. It’s 32 MB. I think it holds up to 8 photos!

4 grand for that? That’s retarded. You can get 160 gb of storage with a freaking $450 ipod.
Why would you waste your money? That’s probably the dumbest out of the expensive items, IMO…..

But yeah, I don’t own an USB drive.

    Over 2GB

I recently walked by FutureShop when a 4GB USB drive was on sale. Couldn’t resist. No fancy cell phones or PDA here, so it is a godsend for synchronizing all my stuff between the computer at my office and at home
Other than that, I have a 2GB one, and 2×512MB. And a couple of smaller ones that were given out as promotional articles.

And now you can get 2GB for around $7. :) Funny how that works out.

Then go with the larger. Maybe we’ll have to make another poll asking how many Flash drives people actually have? ;)

Sweetness! You’ll never need another storage medium again!

Really? I have to say that I’m quite shocked.

Sounds like you’re going to become a resale show for USB drives. :)

I don’t have a fancy cellphone or PDA either. Got a few USB drives lying around, which are quite handy, our oldest kids are learning to use them too. One of 1GB, one of 512, one of 256. It’s good to have a few of them around when several people in the household are using them :-)

I’m cheap. I use a 64MB flash drive w/ clear purple plastic because I found it on the ground. I don’t even have enough free space on it to put PortableFirefox.

Hey, I just realized there’s a little switch next to a lock icon. I guess that locks up the files somehow?

Probably for the write protection, just like the floppies have.

Hey, if it works… why not use it!
