Replace Your Scratched Halo 3 Disc for Free

The big launch of Halo 3 finally came and went, but unfortunately it didn't occur without problems. Microsoft has confirmed that a portion of the limited edition discs that were sold are scratched because of poor design of the nub in the tin casing. The nub wasn't able to successfully hold the disc in place, so during shipment, the discs got thrown all around which caused the scratches.

ZoneAlarm ForceField Offers Virtual Surfing

ZoneAlarm is a very well respected security company, and for the longest time it was my primary choice for firewall protection. They've remained pretty strong in that area, but lately I've seen people converting to other security apps, such as the free Comodo firewall.

It's been about a day since Amazon launched the Public Beta of their DRM-Free Music store called Amazon MP3, and so far the reviews are extremely positive and users are happy with the ease of use, and the prices. Their slogan is "Play Anywhere, DRM-Free Music Downloads" but they should have added "for cheap" on to it.

Apple Warns iPhone Could Become iBrick

In the world of modding, a brick is used to describe something which has been modified and no longer works. It essentially becomes a paperweight, hence the name, a brick. Yesterday Apple warned that with an update for the iPhone on the way, there's no guarantee that unlocked phones will continue to work. And of course once an iPhone is modified, it's no longer covered by the warranty.

Recommended Tags Plugin for WordPress 2.3

Many of you might have noticed in our Daily Downloads today that WordPress 2.3 has been released. One of its most acclaimed features is the built-in tagging system, but to be honest it is a overly simple as it currently stands. It has no sort of near-duplicate detection when adding tags to your posts, which can quickly create a huge mess for anyone with a few dozen tags.

Microsoft Wants a Chunk of Facebook

The big news coming from the Wall Street Journal yesterday was that Microsoft is in talks with Facebook to purchase a 5% chunk of the mammoth social network. While the simple fact that they're talking is no surprise, what is a surprise is that Microsoft is offering up between $300-$500 million for the 5% share. Microsoft's offering puts Facebook's value at an astounding $10 billion at the minimum.
