Firefox 3 – Put More Emphasis on URL Highlighting

Way back in July we introduced a new Firefox 3 feature that focused on making users safer from phishing attacks. This is done using URL highlighting which puts more emphasis on the domain name, kind of like what the Locationbar2 extension is used for.

Rumor: 800 Apple Employees Out of iJob

Apparently Steve Jobs doesn't like greedy people who try to take advantage of him, and I don't blame him one bit. ArsTechina is reporting (although it hasn't been confirmed) that two separate independent sources have informed them that Apple has fired over 800 employees who decided to take Jobs up on his offer to refund $100 to early adopters who purchased iPhones before the price drop.

Comcast Throttles Torrent Downloads – Workarounds Revealed

Comcast is quickly gaining enemies from the BitTorrent crowd by using new technology to throttle torrent downloads.  The Associated Press was able to confirm that they are in fact doing this through tests all over the nation.  In their report they say that this move is "the most drastic example yet of data discrimination by a U.S.

How Far is the MPAA Willing to Go?

Stopping piraters from downloading movies illegally is at the very top of the MPAA's task list.  Given that, they have gone to some great lengths to enforce their zero tolerance policy, and an exclusive article over at Wired today points this out.  The article starts out "Promises of Hollywood fame and fortune persuaded a young hacker to betray former associates in the BitTorrent scene to Tinseltown's anti-piracy lobby." This situation involving Robert Anderson is just one of many examples of what the MPAA is doing to try and stop piracy, but does it really do them any good?
