It’s another big milestone for Windows XP/2003 users! Vista Transformation Pack 8 ( VTP 8 ) was just released, and it will bring even more of the Vista finesse that you know and love without the hefty upgrade price tag. One of the most notable changes is the ability to use the “Aero Glass” without needing WindowBlinds. It still doesn’t have any blur effects, but maybe a future version of VTP will support WindowBlinds 6 with the blurring?
One of the other pretty cool additions is the free WinFlip application, which clones the Flip3D task switcher from Vista. It is quite amazing all of the things that they are able to cram into VTP, and how Vista-like it truly is. Here are some other stuff that should make VTP users happy with this release:
- The hotfix issue that many people were having has been fixed…no more workaround needed!
- Vista Transformation Pack 8 will detect the target machine and suggest a setup configuration.
- Updated many of the bundled applications, including Vista Sidebar, ViStart, ViOr, and VisualTooltip.
- Lots of bug fixes.
If you’re itching to make your Windows XP or Windows 2003 look more like Vista then this is a great opportunity. One thing that I do recommend is that you create a System Restore Point before proceeding. That way if you decide not to keep Vista Transformation Pack 8 installed you’ll easily be able to revert back to before you skinned Windows. It does have an uninstaller, but sometimes it doesn’t work 100% like you would expect.

How about performance of XP with this pack?
I haven’t tried this version out myself, but in the past it was relatively easy on memory and processor usage. Definitely not something that caused a noticeable difference for me.
first of all i think its awesome you can enjoy windows vista on XP!
but for some reason, when i download, extract and run the exe, it sends me to the first screen and automaticly says it has encountered a problem and has to close ( the window we all dread..the ‘do not send’ window )
i have regular windows xp..ill try number 7 but i have no idea if it will even work.

No boss. I downloaded the VTP7 with gr8 expectation. But some hotfix error. I thought to give a try to VTP 8.01. But it shos the error window. I am really dissapointed. I have got another now,some bricopack vista-2. PLease comment on this and the bigs in insaling VTP 8.01

Sorry, but I’m not sure what type of error you are getting so I really can’t help you out. Try providing more details as to what the error said.
the program crahes after i open it ,im’a try Transformation Pack 7 if i find it.

I have recently installed the vtp8 for windows xp and when I go into my start menu I cant right click anything that is in the start menu

Info for people who opens VTP and it crashes, heres a getaround.
Go into safe mode and then into your account when it loads. Open up the VTP file you want, and it’ll start.
About the people with the hotfix problems, either just uninstall the hotfix by going to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and just find the update or… the other way are registries. You can e-mail me to get them. (The registries are Hotfix bypasses)

Why is it that when I open up my Start Menu (orb) it opens up with a black duplicate on the top of it and then it just closes? I’m using Vista Transformation Pack 8.0.1

I’m not actually sure why that is. I don’t remember that happening, but I don’t use VTP too much since my primary operating system is actually Vista.
