Windows XP on the OLPC

Microsoft is not going to stand on the sidelines when it comes to the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project. They have given 40 engineers the daunting task of getting Windows XP running on the OLPC (a.k.a. XO project), which is equipped with a 433MHz processor, 256MB or RAM, and a 1GB flash drive.

Live Documents is Another Office 2007 Wannabe

Back in April we wrote about Peepel which at the time was a new online-office startup.  They offer a spreadsheet and word processor that look near identical to Office 2007. Considering they haven't updated their blog since August, I'm guessing things aren't going so well for them and they aren't really updating the service.

NOD32 & ESET Smart Security at Newegg

A few weeks back I finally broke down and bought the ESET Smart Security suite (review). I needed two licenses for it, and I decided to just buy the two-year subscription up front so that I could take advantage of the extra savings. In the end my total came out to $103.99, but it was worth it for two licenses and two years of protection from one of the best security companies around.

Virus Bulletin did another "in the wild" test to see how many of the best antivirus solutions available would be able to catch every known virus they threw at it. Normally out of the 30+ apps that are tested 5 or 6 of them fail, but this time around over 50% of them came up short.

Keyboard shortcuts are considered by some to be the next best thing since sliced bread. It can increase productivity and save you time by keeping you from reaching for the mouse anytime you need to do something. I don't know about you, but I can't imagine not having shortcuts for things like copying and pasting, or undoing something.
