Huh, that is really interesting. I wonder if you need to have something else on for that to happen, such as Num Lock?

Just found this review. What a wonderful program. I tried many of these utilities (ActiveWord, Smartkey) but all had flaws.

FINALLY I fell in love with Phrase Express . :-)

Joe, AutoHotKey is sooo different from PhraseExpress.

It is powerful (and cryptic) on the macro language side but we speak about text phrases here.

AutoHotKey neither has the text prediction, clipboard cache, support for formatted text, multiple phrases for the same hotstring and so many other PhraseExpress unique features.

The comparison is completely invalid. You compare apples with peas. ;-)

Glad you guys are giving it a try.

[div id=commentquote]Joe Norton wrote:
Autohotkey (www.autohotkey.com) does same work but much better. No install process is needed. There are a lot of scripts for AutoHotKey (AHK) available to use.
[/div]
AutoHotKey takes a little bit more to configure, but they can be setup to do similar things. PhraseExpress has a lot of useful features related to text that AutoHotKey doesn't, such as an autocorrect dictionary for commonly misspelled words.

[...] Windows only: Previously mentioned freeware text replacement application PhraseExpress has updated with a couple of really impressive features, namely automatic text prediction and the handy clipboard cache, both of which you can see demonstrated in the video above. Like Lifehacker’s own text replacement app, Texter, PhraseExpress saves you time by expanding text snippets to larger pieces of repetitive text. It doesn’t have all of the features you’ll get using Texter, but the text prediction in particular is very impressive, so you’ll have to look them over and decide which works best for you. PhraseExpress is freeware for non-commercial use, Windows only. PhraseExpress 5 [via CyberNet] [...]
