I use blip.tv for hosting my vids. I’ve known abt viddler for sometime now but never used them. I just uploaded one video of my nephew. It was encoded in 640×480 res. and it just seems too pixelated and jagged on viddler. I uploaded the same video on blip and the result is much better. So i am sticking with blip for now.

It has been my experience that it is the smaller companies that really make waves and break new ground. The challenge is keeping that vanguard spirit as the company grows.

Thankfully I think Viddler has the people on board to make sure that doesn’t happen. The great thing is that we are just beginning to see the tip of the Viddler iceberg, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in 2008.

So happy to see Viddler being recognized! There’s tons of video sharing sites out there, putting focus on feature this and feature that. Viddler, while feature rich (and the stats you mentioned are a POWER feature for video-bloggers), also gives an even bigger bang for the buck because they make it so easy to share AND RESPOND! Between in-video text and video commenting, and a community that’s not full of trash-talking users, Viddler becomes an amazing community-powered tool that lets users engage each other like no other. That’s what sharing is really about. Not eyeballs, but engagement!

Kudos to the whole Viddler team, who are just as kind as they are talented (and that’s quite a bit of both).

And thank you for CyberNet for deservedly recognizing them!

Agree with you the Viddler is top of the list for video sharing. There’s nothing like it right now in terms of granular control of who you share/don’t share your media with. It allows you to record directly in the browser AND upload your already pre-edited clips. And most of all, it’s feature for leaving comments directly in the video timeline is, I think, the its most amazing feature.

A friend left a comment the other day to the effect, “I’m abusing Viddler’s commenting system because it’s so easy and fun to leave comments on videos.” I think that pretty much sums it up.

I would use DivShare for that, and just password protect the files. Then you can share the password with the people you actually want to have access to it.

What recommendations does anyone have for sharing files with a closed group of people? I want to record band rehearsals and make the mp3s available to the group but not to the world. The file sizes might be around 100 mb.
