One of my favorite events of the year is the Bill Gates Keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). That's typically where he shows off gadgets that many of us know are like 20+ years away, but it's cool to watch nonetheless. I can't tell you how many times I've been writing something or working on a project in Microsoft Word and it would have been helpful to be able to select text vertically. It never occurred to me that it was even possible to do such a thing! To my surprise, I learned that in fact you can select text vertically in Microsoft Word, thanks to an article over at the How-To Geek site.

Ask.com has just added a new and free voice activated directions service to their Mobile site so that users are able to speak their location and then speak their desired destination and receive directions on their mobile phone.  When I first read about it, it seemed like it was Ask.com's response to GOOG-411, except they were trying to take it a bit further.
