Vista Recovery Disc

Computer Recovery I’ve had numerous emails sent to me wondering how people can use Vista’s advanced system recovery options when their computer doesn’t come with a Vista installation disc. One reader also pointed out that this was a problem when trying to fix the “BOOTMGR is Missing” error some receive when starting up their computer.

So how can you get around this? NeoSmart whipped up a Vista Recovery Disc using some tools provided by Microsoft. With it you’ll be able to faithfully use Vista’s recovery tools without actually having the original setup media.

The download is 120MB in size, and it will need to be burned to a DVD/CD before it can be used. If you don’t already have the Vista setup media it’s wise to download and burn this now before the day arises that you aren’t able to bootup your computer. ;)

My laptop (HP G6000) did not come with the required recovery discs, but I just bought some off best2serve.com as instructed by the HP helpline ppl on the phone… but wen i put the disc into the drive i get none of the windows that are mentioned everywhere with regard to “startup repair” etc. n it just goes straight into “windows loading files” exactly the same as the system restore did if u press f11.. and then after that it just goes onto a blue screen and nothing happens… what do i have to do to fix it?.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

The recovery discs from the manufacturer may not be designed to do this. They are likely only used for restoring the computer back to the factory state.

Try downloading and burning the recovery disc linked to above.
