Windows XP SP3 (RC2) Standalone Downloads

Last week Microsoft pushed out Release Candidate 2 for Windows XP SP3. At the time the only way to download it was using Windows Update, and I'm not sure about you but I hate downloading Service Packs over Windows Update. It seems like the download goes a lot slower, and it's a lot of wasted bandwidth if you have more than one computer that it needs to be installed on.

Watch High-Resolution YouTube Videos

The words YouTube and "high-resolution" have never really fit well in the same sentence. YouTube has always greatly limited the resolution of their videos to conserve on bandwidth, but going forward that may not always be the case. As it turns out there is a little something that you can add on to the end of a YouTube URL to have it play a high-resolution version of the same video.

Leap Day Around the Web!

This morning after I woke up, it just took a minute to realize it was leap year day, February 29th. Thanks to Google I was able to figure this out. The "L" in their logo was replaced by a frog which reminded me that today was something special. Around the web and in stores, it seems to be special too. Marketers are using this once-every-four-year occasion to promote products and services.

What Would You Like to See in Ubuntu?

Ubuntu looks as though they have taken a page from Dell's book. The Ubuntu team just launched a new feedback site called Brainstorm which closely resembles the Dell IdeaStorm site that was launched over a year ago. It provides a Digg-like voting interface to figure out what the community would really like to see come out of Ubuntu in the future.

Boxed Copies of Vista Drop in Price

There were two big complaints when Windows Vista was launched just a little over a year ago. One was the fact that there were so many versions to choose from which made things confusing, and the other was the price. One of those two complaints has been resolved, partially, with Microsoft announcing that they are dropping the price of boxed copies of Windows Vista.

Google Docs Redesign

Google decided that today would be a good day to spruce up Google Docs a bit by removing some of the blue that previously laid behind the buttons on the toolbar. When I first saw the new design (pictured below) I thought it looked pretty slick, but then I almost started to see some resemblance from Zoho's recent makeover:
