Firefox 3 Performance Gets a Boost

Now that Firefox 3 is approaching the home stretch it is important that Mozilla starts to throw in performance improvements to really make the browser purr. Over in our forum xpgeek pointed out that a Profile-Guided Optimization (PGO) build of Firefox 3 had been created which greatly improved the performance of JavaScript in the browser.

Adobe Air-based Xdrive Desktop Lite Launches

Adobe AIR 1.0 has officially shipped and now we're already starting to see applications built with the new platform. One such application is AOL's Xdrive Desktop Lite. It was designed for uploading and downloading files from AOL's Xdrive storage solution.  As a quick reminder, Xdrive is a service that allows users to store (for free) 5GB worth of data.

At last, Optimus Maximus keyboards are finally shipping after receiving a Vaporware Award two years in a row now (2006, 2007). It's been quite the adventure for the team creating the highly anticipated and over-priced keyboard, filled with many ups and downs.

Microsoft has started to send out emails to select individuals indicating that Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 is right around the corner. The email is targeted to people whom they would like to receive feedback from before they open the doors to the general public, and no specific date for the IE8 Beta release has been given.

For the longest time, the one thing I've liked about Windows Live Messenger over Google Talk is the option to "Appear Offline."  There are times when I've wanted to set myself to "offline" in Google Talk without actually being offline for those instances when I'm really trying to focus and get something done and I don't want to be interrupted.
