Microsoft Pushes Out Vista Exploit Detector Update

We knew that Microsoft was getting ready to crack down on Vista piracy even more so than it did in Vista SP1, and that day is upon us. All Vista users will see a new update that is classified as , and once you proceed with the update it will check to see if your system has been activated using a known exploit.

EU Fines Microsoft… Again

Back in September last year we wrote about how the European Court finally ruled on an antitrust case that was started back in 2004 against Microsoft. The ruling? Microsoft was fined $690 million dollars. For this particular fine, it was because the EU felt Microsoft needed to make a version of Windows without Media Player included.

Windows 7 Start Menu Mockup

Long Zheng managed to get his hands on what appears to be a Windows 7 Start Menu mockup, and how he came about it is quite interesting. An anonymous tipster sent the image which was retrieved from a private Windows feedback survey regarding the search functionality in Vista.

DivX Shutting Down Stage6.com

Thursday February 28th, 2008 will be the day that DivX shuts down Stage6.com for good. For many, this comes as a huge disappointment.  Stage6 was a place where people went to watch, share, and download high quality videos. One reason it was so great was the fact that the content was compatible with over 70 million electronic devices from major manufacturers.

Communicate using Google Talk Chatback

Google has just introduced a new way to help site owners communicate more with their visitors.  It's called Google Talk Chatback and it's available to any website where you can add HTML content. Inserting the Chatback "badge" will allow visitors to chat with you which means you'll be having an instant message session with your readers, right from the browser. Cool, huh?

Apple Updates MacBook Line

Apple has finally gotten around to updating their MacBook Pro line of laptops with the multi-touch trackpad that was introduced on the MacBook Air back in January. With the new trackpad you'll be able to "" I think many people were holding off on picking up a MacBook Pro because it was anticipated that Apple would be updating the model with some new features.

CyberNotes: Advanced Photo Effects

One of the reasons Adobe Photoshop has become so popular is because of all the advanced photo affects that can be applied to images. Over the last few years I've seen a lot of free alternatives emerge onto the scene saving users hundreds of dollars, but many of them don't have the effects and control that I'm looking for.

Go Invisible with Gmail Chat

For the longest time, the one thing I've liked about Windows Live Messenger over Google Talk is the option to "Appear Offline."  There are times when I've wanted to set myself to "offline" in Google Talk without actually being offline for those instances when I'm really trying to focus and get something done and I don't want to be interrupted.

CyberNotes: iPhone Tips and Review

Before we dive into today's CyberNotes, we just wanted to point out that this isn't the usual Microsoft Monday article. We're taking a break from talking about Microsoft to talk about none other than a competitor of theirs, Apple.  Over the last couple of months, we've received several emails and questions regarding the iPhones we purchased back at the end of December.
