Dropbox Invites!

One of our faithful readers, Alex, noticed our underlying plea for an invite to the Dropbox service that we wrote about earlier today. While Dropbox has no formal way to invite a friend they do let you share a folder with others, and if they don't have an account it will let them create one on-the-spot. So Alex shared a folder with us, and we were able to get an account!

Use Dropbox to Sync Your Files, Soon!

Yesterday in the CyberNet Forum, Max mentioned a site that he recently saw which looked awesome called Dropbox.  We checked it out and sure enough, it is pretty awesome and I think you'll agree. It's currently in the private beta stage so you'll need an invitation to check it out, but they've got a video posted that does all of the talking and really demonstrates what you can do.

About the Downtime…

Some of you may have noticed that we were down for about the last hour and a half. No, our server didn't crash. In fact it still hasn't been rebooted in 245 days. Without getting into too many details we'll just say that the hamster fell asleep at the wheel.

DeskScapes 2.0 Preview Now Available

Stardock has started to deliver the DeskScapes 2.0 Preview yesterday to anyone that wants to give it a whirl. Previously DeskScapes was a way for Vista Ultimate users to extend the functionality of Dreamscene, but now it works on any version of Vista without needing Dreamscene. It's a great way to have an animated desktop background on your Vista machine, oh, and did I say that it's free?

Toshiba has had a rough year as they've watched HD DVD rather quickly fall to the bottom and eventually get discontinued. February 9th was the day that they made the official announcement that they were going to stop development, manufacturing, and marketing of HD DVD players and recorders.
