Mint Takes on Investments Next Week

It's been a little while since we checked out what Mint had to offer, but it looks like they are progressing quite well. One of the things that really makes them stand out is their ability to connect to your bank and download new transactions.

Record Streaming Internet Radio Stations Online

One of the things that I've grown accustomed to in iTunes is listening to the streaming radio stations. When you go through an entire work day sitting in front of your computer it's nice to have a variety of music at your fingertips without needing to assemble your own playlists. Wouldn't it be nice, however, if you could record some of the songs so that you can listen to them later on?

Google Prepares Measure Map for Re-launch

Some of you may remember a service called Measure Map from back in 2005. It was free and provided bloggers with stats for their blogs. There are certain stats that are more useful to bloggers than others which is why Measure Map was so useful.

Lenovo Takes a Jab at the MacBook Air

They say good things come in small packages and Lenovo is out to prove that at Apple's expense. Back in March we wrote about how Lenovo was going head-to-head with Apple's MacBook Air with their ThinkPad X300. Now they've come up with a rather funny parody that makes fun of some of the MacBook Air's limitations. Lenovo really did a good job with it, take a look:

No Secret “Backdoor” in Windows, Darn

There is a lot of incorrect information going around the Internet right now about how Microsoft is helping out law enforcement with some forensic tools they are providing on USB drives. The tool is called COFEE (Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor), and over 2,000 of these handy little things have been given out to 350 different agencies.

Directions and Street View Combine in Google Maps

Google just made it a little easier for people to get from point A to point B with the help of Street View. Of course we know what Street View is by now, and we know that using Google Maps, users can get directions from a starting point to an ending point. Now Google has combined those two features and in the directions that you receive, you'll see a camera which you can click on.

CyberNotes: Best IE7 Scripts

One of the most popular extensions for Firefox is Greasemonkey simply because it gives developers and users a chance to customize their browsing experience with very little work. The extension has been downloaded over 165,000 times which is pretty incredible, and new scripts that power the extension are always being created.

New Poll: 64-bit vs. 32-bit

Earlier this month we asked CyberNet readers, "How old is your primary computer?" Over 950 of you responded and as it turns out, 30% of you, larger than any other group, are using a computer that's less than one year old. Coming in next was 21% of you who said that you are using a computer that's 1-2 years old.

XP SP3 Download Not Coming Today

Last week we posted some mirrors for the Windows XP SP3 download, and today was supposed to be the golden day that Microsoft delivered it to the public. That won't be happening. Microsoft found a last minute show-stopper that they decided needs to be addressed before offering it to the public.

Pause iTunes or VLC When You Unplug Headphones

Mac only Breakaway is a nifty little free application that makes your Mac computer stop playing music in iTunes anytime you unplug the headphones. Some of you might already be familiar with this feature because it's something that most iPods do.

The WB Reemerges as Re-runs Web Site

Slowly but surely, television networks are starting to understand new media. They get that there are other places than the TV where people want to watch their favorite shows, and they are finally starting to come up with ways to bring TV to the Internet. Hulu is a great example of television networks "getting it" by offering premium content from Fox, NBC, MGM, Sony, and others, online for free.

Daily Downloads is Now Cross-Platform

Those of you who were checking up on the Daily Downloads today might have noticed something new. For each download that we listed there's a section stating which platforms they are compatible with: Windows, Mac, and/or Linux. We were going to do just a text-based system for listing the platforms, but we wanted to make it easier for those wanting to glance through real quick.

Grand Theft Auto IV Gets Rave Reviews

Any Grand Theft Auto fans out there? If there are, you already know Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA) launched at midnight last night and you probably already have your hands on a copy of the game. For the first time, the game launched at the same time for two platforms, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In some cities, like New York, people were in line waiting for the game's launch before midnight.

IE Tab in Opera?

If you're using Firefox there is a very good chance that you've heard of the IE Tab extension. For many of us it helped ease the burden of switching to Firefox as the primary browser back when developers didn't see Firefox as a viable alternative. That is not nearly as big of a problem as it once was.

Happy 5th Birthday iTunes Music Store!

On this day five years ago, the Apple iTunes Music Store launched. The date was April 28, 2003, and ever since the launch, the store has managed to become more successful than I think anyone ever imagined. By early this year in 2008, over 4 billion songs have been sold through the store.

Search Commands Available for Office 2007

One of the complaints I've heard from people who start using Microsoft Office 2007 is that because of the new Ribbon, they sometimes have a hard time finding the commands that they're looking for. The Microsoft Office Labs team knows this, so they've decided to help users by launching a project for Office 2007 called Search Commands.
