Hide the Safari “Update” Notification in Windows

Remember how Apple is pushing out Safari to anyone with iTunes or QuickTime installed? The "update" notification was really starting to get on my nerves. I swear I was getting prompted at least once a week to install Safari, and that was regardless of whether I unchecked the box.

Facebook Chat Slowly Rolling Out…

When I logged into my Facebook account yesterday, I was surprised to see a box in the lower right corner welcoming me to Facebook Chat. It was surprising for a couple of reasons, but mainly because I knew I hadn't signed up for chat and there it was telling me that I could start conversations.

New Google Talk… Almost Google, Almost

Both you and I have been complaining for quite awhile that Google needs to provide an updated desktop version of the Google Talk instant messenger, and it looks like they are listening after all. Over the weekend they released a new version called Google Talk, Labs Edition that is currently in testing. Sounds great, right?

Microsoft and Yahoo are Battling it Out

Microsoft and Yahoo are at it again with this whole acquisition thing, and this time we find it a bit humorous. It started out on Saturday when Microsoft posted a press release with a letter that Steve Ballmer sent to Yahoo.  Yahoo responded of course, and they too posted their letter in a press release.

Google Email Uploader Launches for Google Apps

Google Apps users who have years (or just a few months worth) of emails stored in Outlook, Outlook Express or Thunderbird, now have a very simple way to upload those messages to a Google Apps mailbox (Gmail). Google just launched an open source desktop utility called Google Email Uploader that gets the job done.
