It looks as though Microsoft is more than just dabbling with the idea of offering a subscription-based version of Microsoft Office. According to CNet in the next few days they will launch a limited Beta program of a project codenamed Albany.

Unfortunately there are some videos that people in certain countries aren't able to watch because the person/company that added the video put geographical restrictions on it.

Microsoft is the Mystery Farecast Buyer

Early this week, Seattle P-I reported that Farecast, an airfare pricing comparison tool, had been acquired. At the time they said they didn't know who the buyer was, but the estimated price was $75 million. They were guessing that it was travel company Expedia, but as it turns out, it was actually Microsoft and the price was quite a bit higher than the $75 million they originally reported.

New Apple Software Updater Appeases Critics, Kind of

It's been a month since Apple started distributing their Safari browser to Windows users with rather questionable practices. Anyone that had either QuickTime or iTunes installed would receive a prompt stating that there was a Safari "update" available, regardless of whether it had ever been installed on the machine. That didn't go over too well with the online community.
