Well, your computer is going to download a lot of it as you visit the site anyway. Many of the features are powered by JavaScript, and Google Gears is there to make sure that the necessary JavaScript isn't deleted (among a few other things such as storing your documents). So I wouldn't exactly say that it clutters the computer.</description>
