Zoho Sheet Supports VBA! Crazy!

One of the things that I've felt online spreadsheets have really lacked is support for Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). I use VBA macros quite frequently in my spreadsheets as a way to analyze and process data that can't be done with formulas. Well, Zoho has decided to step up to the plate in a big way.

CyberNotes: MacBook Pro First Impressions

Last week in our MyFive article titled "Computers We've Owned," we left out a "5th Generation" of computers that we've owned in the past because we hadn't yet purchased them. In the article, we mentioned that we've been looking at different models and manufacturers to see what would be best. We finally made our decision after lots of research, and the purchases were made.

Restore Firefox 3 Smart Bookmarks

Back in October 2007 we previewed a new feature in Firefox 3 called Smart Bookmarks. Firefox 3 has a more advanced bookmarking system, and keeps tabs (no pun intended) on the sites that you visit the most. When those two things collide they form what has come to be known as Smart Bookmarks.

Selectively Backup Your Opera Profile

One thing that I'm always careful about backing up is my browser's profile. There is a lot of information stored in there, and it would be a real shame if I lost it all. If you're running Opera then you're in for a real treat with this backup utility. OperaFly is a nifty little free program that runs on Windows.

Are you Saving or Spending the Rebate Check?

Geeks are sometimes given the stereotype as being big spenders on gadgetry, from computers to video game systems. You, yourself, may be a spender. While some do always have to have the latest and greatest of anything electronic, not all geeks are frequently forking out the cash.

AVG 8 Free Available, Not Bad Actually

We were getting quite a few tips over the last day regarding the new version of AVG free that was just released. As you might recall AVG 8.0 Pro was made available several months ago, and it is a pretty comprehensive security suite. It wasn't bad, but to me it seemed pretty bloated.

Microsoft Ends a Mediocre 3rd Quarter

Microsoft's fiscal 3rd quarter has just come to an end and their earnings have been reported. Overall, they saw their net-income decrease by about 11%. Part of the drop is due to the money they had to charge, $1.42 billion, to cover that whole fiasco they got into with the European union and their antitrust investigation.

Foxit 2.3 PDF Reader Includes Tabs

Last year we took a look at a sweet PDF reader called PDF-XChange Viewer. One of my favorite things that it includes is a tabbed system for managing multiple PDF's. It seems like everything is getting tabs these days, and there's no doubt that they fit very well into a PDF reader. It sure beats having ten different windows open and trying to switch between them all, doesn't it?

XP “Deadline” Extended? Maybe…

Back on April 15th, we wrote about how Dell was offering a Windows Downgrade Service which would give buyers the option to have XP factory-installed on their computers. Part of the deal is that Dell gives the buyer the DVD for Vista so that when they are ready (if ever), they can install it.

CyberNotes: Life Before the Internet was like…

It's hard to imagine what life was like before the Internet, isn't it? I've been using it for more than half of my life, but today's generation of kids grew up with it. Those are the kids that don't even know the difference between life before and after the Internet came along, but I'm sure you can remember the differences, like...

Back in February we took a look at the Evernote Beta that introduces an online synchronization aspect that plays nicely with their desktop offerings. After just two months of the Beta they have hit a huge milestone: 1 million notes have been posted! They've decided that a good way to celebrate the milestone would be to let anyone and everyone register for the Beta by visiting this "secret" site.
