Google Warning Users About Phishing Attempts

The number of phishing attempts continues to grow each year and really has gotten out of hand.  In fact, Wikipedia says that about 100 billion spam messages (as of June 2007) are sent each and every single day. To put this into perspective, that accounts for about 80-85% of all incoming messages that a user receives in a days time.

Microsoft Works SE 9.0 Shipping on Some New PC’s

Many of us look down at Microsoft Works, and for good reason. It's a stripped down office suite that doesn't hold a candle to Microsoft Office or any of the open source/freeware alternatives. It costs PC manufacturers next to nothing to bundle Microsoft Works with new computers, and that's often why it is included.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Woos Bloggers

Over the last few years, Encyclopaedia Britannica has had to sit and watch as more people turned to what was easily available and free, to look-up information on a certain topic or event instead of their physical encyclopedias.  The simple fact that the Internet, and particularly Wikipedia, is universally accessible to anybody with an Internet Connection and Britannica is not hasn't been such a good thing for them.

Vista Aero Glass in Firefox 3 (Like IE7)

I was starting to become skeptical as to whether it was possible to have an Aero Glass theme for Firefox much like that of Internet Explorer 7, but there is now proof that it can be done. One top-notch developer took it upon himself to create an extension that would create a fancy eye-catching interface . The result is the Glasser extension.

Automatic Context Menu in Firefox

Do you find yourself using the right-click/context menu in Firefox rather frequently? If so you might benefit from having the menu automatically appear whenever you highlight some text on a site. For some people, including myself, that can be a huge time saver.

Would a Subscription-based Microsoft Office be Successful?

It looks as though Microsoft is more than just dabbling with the idea of offering a subscription-based version of Microsoft Office. According to CNet in the next few days they will launch a limited Beta program of a project codenamed Albany.

Helpful Tip: How to Watch Restricted YouTube Videos

Some of you may have experienced this before: you go to watch a video on YouTube only to get a message saying "This video is not available in your country." Unfortunately there are some videos that people in certain countries aren't able to watch because the person/company that added the video put geographical restrictions on it.

AT&T’s Pogo Browser…. why?

Imagine sitting at a large round table over at AT&T trying to come up with ways to better your brand and service. Everyone is expressing their minds, and one individual says "" There's a slight chuckle in the room, and then everyone begins looking at each other with a slightly puzzled look on their faces. Finally, someone says ""

Microsoft is the Mystery Farecast Buyer

Early this week, Seattle P-I reported that Farecast, an airfare pricing comparison tool, had been acquired. At the time they said they didn't know who the buyer was, but the estimated price was $75 million. They were guessing that it was travel company Expedia, but as it turns out, it was actually Microsoft and the price was quite a bit higher than the $75 million they originally reported.

New Apple Software Updater Appeases Critics, Kind of

It's been a month since Apple started distributing their Safari browser to Windows users with rather questionable practices. Anyone that had either QuickTime or iTunes installed would receive a prompt stating that there was a Safari "update" available, regardless of whether it had ever been installed on the machine. That didn't go over too well with the online community.

Wiimote: More than Meets the Eye

The Wii has become rather notorious for the specialized controllers that it uses to draw people into the game being played. It's very much possible that you've been using the controllers for quite some time without actually knowing what they are capable of doing.
