I like the classic, original "del.icio.us buttons" (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1532), because it DOESN'T replace built-in bookmarks.

In this post there is one "new feature":
* Classic mode for users who just want simple buttons without the overhead of sync

Is it like classic "del.icio.us buttons" extension?

The bookmarks seem to be syncing correctly now. Now that I think about it, the service was probably DoS because of lots of FF3 users hammering the servers to sync their bookmarks.

P.S. The delicious extension no longer replaces your normal bookmarks. It hasn't for quite some time now.

(that was the reason I uninstalled it - I don’t want to be fully dependent on one sole service)</blockquote>[/div]
Wish I could give you an answer, but I've never used Del.icio.us for my bookmarks so I'm not quite sure.

I installed the extension on my Ubuntu machine and it worked great. Then I attempted to install it on my portable Firefox 3 on Windows, but the syncing failed. I shrugged my shoulders and launched my permanent installation of FF2. It turns out now my bookmarks are failing to sync with FF2. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this.</blockquote>[/div]
Did you try to install the new version in Firefox 2 as well? I know that this version of the extension is backwards compatible, and so I'm not sure if it would be required for all of your installations.
